We have a 10 yr old who is catching a lot of hell at school for being atheist. We are on the west side and he has no like-minded friends, hoping it gets better next year in middle school,so we were wondering if any kids around his age show up to any of the meet-ups, if not is there any thoughts or plans of having some kind of meetup for atheist kids in Wichita, surely hes not the only one on the west-side. any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated. the Darwine Day party is Saturday February 11th. It is at the Wichita Candle Club (13th and Woodlawn). Time is 6:30-8:30. Dr. Alan Maccarone is the evolutionary speaker. We will also have a silent auction (items on the www.greatplainsau.org website. a "clean" dollar (framed), a Darwin painted glass window, other Darwin items, ceramic necklaces (DNA-Darwin Tree, etc). and much more.

I see that there is an event already scheduled for this Saturday, but I was wondering if the Wichita Atheists would be interested in doing some volunteer work (food drive) for Wichita. I sort of feel Atheists in the community have a bad rap, and would love to get our name out there. What better way to do that then volunteer work? :) Is this anything you think the group would be interested in?

i thank you for not having me removed from the "forum" as i have not yet been to a meeting because of scheduling issues. Hope to meet you all very soon as i may be getting a new job which equals more free time.

I've just joined the group, and would like to hook up with any other freethinker type groups in the area. Do you know of any? Or campus clubs?
I ask because I wish to promote a future performance of Sam Singleton Atheist Evangelist in Wichita, maybe as soon as December.
