Wichita Atheists Message Board › Religulous not being played in Wichita

I think everyone here should know that Bill Warren will not play Religulous at his theaters because "he doesn't like Bill Maher." The Dickinson Northrock theater does not have the film rights to play it right now. This smacks of a sort of "monopolized censorship" by the man who owns 55 of the 69 movie screens here in Wichita. I urge everyone to call the Warren corporate offices at 685-3773 to complain. You can also contact Ron Horton at the Dickinson offices in Overland Park at 913-432-2334 to request they purchase film rental rights. Another avenue is to contact Rod Pocawatchit at the Wichita Eagle or write a letter to the editor there. I guess Bill Warren doesn't think adults should be able to choose what movies to watch. -Peg

Our group had decided at the last meetup that we would go see Religulous together when it opened. And then... it didn't open. :(
According to some of my friends at work, Bill Warren is a follower of Terry Fox (the extremist former pastor of Immanuel Baptist and incredible homophobic bigot), and according to anyone I talk to who has interacted with him, he's an all-around uncaring jerk, so this isn't terribly surprising. On the plus side, I did find the movie listed at the Dickinson website, with an Oct. 10 release date: http://www.dtmovies.c... |
