Stacey,
You mentioned liking SH. What do you like about his writing, and can you recommend a book? Does he approach topic from classical, scientific, or other perspective ? Thanks Matt |

The End of Faith is my favorite of the two Sam Harris books I've read. The one I mentioned Tuesday, though, was Letter to a Christian Nation. It will be the first selection for our coming book club, due to its brevity as much as anything else. Both books are polemical, arguing for an end to faith as heralded epistemology, due to its dangers to peaceful civilization. They're much more organized and calmly argued than God Is Not Great.
I've read 35 or 40 books on atheism and related topics. There is no one-size-fits-all book. Perhaps if you could tell me a bit about what topic you're most interested in reading about, and whether you're a newbie or an old hand, I could make some good recommendations. |
