KSN had a story on the question of whether the changes to Texas textbooks will also be coming to Kansas. Their conclusion was that it's not likely, since local districts control textbooks here. (link)
Most of the Texas changes I've heard about are pretty ridiculous, although I don't mind them including talk about the rise of the Moral Majority and social conservatism in recent decades. That has been tremendously and importantly detrimental to American politics, and thus deserves mention. Not that I would expect (or want) social conservatism to be portrayed in anything other than a neutral light in public school curricula. In other Kansas school news - this time fake news - "Christian Groups: Biblical Armageddon Must Be Taught Alongside Global Warming". |
