Il Vicino has a wide and unique selection of Italian food, and they specialize in wood oven pizzas. Oddly, they take orders at the front counter, but after that the wait service works like a standard dining establishment.
Location: 4817 E Douglas Ave
Getting there: (map) It's near the southeast corner of Douglas and Oliver.
Parking: There is a small parking lot on the east side of the building, accessible from Douglas, plus a larger lot south of that one.
Reservations: No, they don't take reservations.
How to find us: There is indoor and outdoor seating; we'll always be inside, since we can't really plan on having good weather in Kansas. Il Vicino doesn't take reservations, so I'll get there 10 or 15 minutes early to have them arrange seating for us. You should be able to locate our table by looking for our tabletop signs.
Menu: (menu link) Italian food, much of which is baked in a wood oven: pizzas, paninis, pasta, etc.
Recommendations: The pizzas are great with their perfect crusts.
Atmosphere: Space is very open and comfortable. Decor is modern. Noise is no problem.
Hours: Tuesday until 10PM, Sunday until 10PM
